Dr. Muhammad Ali Khan is board-certified in gastroenterology, hepatology and internal medicine and sees patients at both United Gastroenterology Associates offices. He earned his medical degree at Dow Medical College, completed an internal medicine residency at the University of Toledo and completed a gastroenterology and hepatology fellowship at the University of Tennessee Health Science Center.
Dr. Khan has served as an Assistant Professor at the University of Alabama at Birmingham and as an Associate Professor at The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center. He has authored more than 100 peer-reviewed articles and is a Fellow of the American College of Physicians (FACP) and the American Society for Gastrointestinal Endoscopy (FASGE). COLORECTAL CANCER SCREENING
The U.S. Preventive Services Task Force recommends colorectal cancer screening for adults ages 45 to 75 who are at average risk. People with a family history of colorectal cancer or advanced polyps, inflammatory bowel disease or certain inherited syndromes may need to start earlier or be screened more often. Symptoms such as rectal bleeding call for a diagnostic evaluation rather than routine screening.
